Handy Hints for Umrah
As shared from a sister on our whatsApp group Most applicable for Umrah, certain tips may be applied for Hajj Clothing 5 abayas – wash & wear8 scarves – wash & wearEnough underwear and socks2 salaah burkas (long length) – pack in ziplock packetsI used to wear normal scarves with my abayas and used to wear my burka at salaah time only because burka too hot and gets in the way if worn all the time- we not used to it- also in tawaf and rawda, burka gets pulled and tugged1 good sneaker1 slides/sandal/flip flops – I took slides because I used to wear with socks and go to Haram instead of wearing a bulky takkieBlack tights and sleeveless vests/inners to wear under abaya2 Under caps- to keep hair covered and stay neat1 Lightweight jacket- esp for fajr time in madina gets chillyScarf pins – always carry extra ICE Kitaabs & Spiritual check Travel musala/thin musala thats lightweight and can be foldedDrawstring bag for HaramTawaf counter/tasbeeh counterDurood cards/prescribed duaas/surahs cardsUmrah guide pdf – very useful and easy to get to instead of carry multiple kitabsQuraan- but keep in mind that travelling with a quraan is an amaanah here’s another lady Shima that also assists with rawda bookingsThey quite strict with rawda permits, so make sure it’s all in order when you go Snacks & Food Pack snacks to nibble on between maghrib/eshaDry fruitNuts – stay away from peanuts because wudhuBiltongGumsI took cold meat/pastrami that was in vacuum sealed packs- this was flat and could fit in small freezer section in hotel fridgeWe used to buy bread and milk from bin Dawood as neededWhen buying bread check the difference between sweet milk bread and normal breadBuy Al marai fresh cream and fresh dates in the fridge section- this is very tasty together In Makkah we had food included with hotelBut we also bought from restaurants such as Romansiya and Tazaj etc in Conrad/Hyatt/Hilton suites building food court Miscellaneous Umrah permits are checked randomly so it’s safe to have it all in orderTawaf on mataaf only allowed to people performing UmrahMakkah hotel fridges are much smaller and are not as chilled/coldShopping in Makkah- I have pics of the abaya/kurta shops that we shopped atThe souk at the bottom of old Hilton is much cheaper than the abaya shops in the actual malls In my haram drawstring bag I carried a musala that I always kept folded inside outAnd my salah burka in a ziplock packetThe reason for this is when you enter the haram you take your shoes off and place in bag and take out musala and burka to useThe ziplock packet will keep the burka paak and won’t get dirty because shoes going into same bagI took a few ziplock packets in my main suitcase as spare in case I needed to replace or use for other stuffBefore we left for Makkah, we did laundry because we did not want the worry of having to wash clothes when we get there etcLaundry is pricey, so some people prefer washing it themselves in their roomsShopping at quba street is cheapTaiba centre shops are open and running like beforeZiyara in madina we went with Ml Abdullah jeena Have a folder on you phone where you can store or save all of your Umrah info and pics etcWe made a WhatsApp group between my husband and I and put all of our stuff there so easy to findThings like Umrah guideline pdf, copies of visa
Sunnats of our Beloved Nabi SAW
Every Sunnah is Most Important in Our Life as Lovers of Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) The word “sunnah” is used to describe the life and teachings of the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him). The sunnah is an ultimate guidance for leading a productive, successful life. Sometimes we neglect the sunnah. The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “Whoever revives my Sunnah then he has loved me. And whoever loved me, he shall be with me in Paradise.” [Tirmidhi] Not only for our personal gain but out of love for our beloved Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him), we should try to live our life by the sunnah as much as possible. While engaging in knowing about the life of a person, your love and respect for him grow. Similarly, when learning about the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him), you will find hundreds of stories, attributes and habits that will be beneficial for your life if implemented, In sha Allah. Here is a booklet with 100 Sunnats of our beloved Nabi ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam

Leaving your little one behind
After being accredited for Hajj, it is only natural for mothers (and fathers) to think about the ffg: who will my children stay with how will they manage without me will my baby recognize me when I return how will my child fall asleep without me will my children be OK while I’m away Most of all… – Will I be OK leaving them for so many weeks? Some comments/replies/stories by parents: joomaverachia Aslm, wheny husband and i got accreditedast yeat for haj we werw so overwhelmed alhamdullilah, bt when it came to kids i woild jusy break down n cry, i cried at night, whem i was alone, bt i kept telling myself tht Allah has chosen me and Allah will look after them, and shikr they were fine, dnt kmw hw the 6 weeks went… What i did was i bought gifts for 6 weeks, 1 gift a weeki wrapped it up amd labeled each 1,and every jummah my mummy would give them 1… ❤ I wrote a note for each week, like week 1 was we reached From anon.. Salaams, me and my husband left our baby with grandparents to go hajj. He was three months old. It was incredibly difficult to go and we missed him so much when he was there but we made lots of dua for him and got so busy during hajj that the time just flew. We went for a month and were devastated to leave him but glad we got our hajj done. Makkah and Madinah bring so much peace to our hearts, made it easier. From anon… Leaving children behind is always tough💔 For me the greatest challenge wuz getting accredited days b4 I gave birth n having to make the decision to leave behind my newborn who wuz exactly 3 months old the day I left 😭 To leave behind a child that little n stop breastfeeding wen I fed the others til they were 2 yrs old wuz a heart-wrenching decision that I had to make. It really helps to have loving family members around who went out of their way to make my kids (I have 3) not feel my absence. It is said that u will be tested b4 or during Haj n I jus took this to be my test n alhamdulillah 2day I have absolutely no regrets. Allah gives our children amazing sabr n they r totally fine even though we think the world will collapse if we r not around for them 🤣 so if Allah has invited u to b His Esteemed guest don’t decline for Allah makes a way n now my kids r ever ready to ship me off again😂Insha Allah we r given the opportunity to perform Haj again soon❤️ quicksimpleneasy_cuisine Assalaamualaikum – I left my 3 n half yr old daughter – I didn’t cry until the airport when everything started to feel REAL.. I cried so much which made her cry also.. I pulled myself together and then smiled at her one last time before leaving her for 6 weeks.. I hugged her and kissed her and walked bravely towards the departure gates knowing that I’m only leaving her for the Pleasure of Allah 💕💕💕 I missed her on the plane but sooner or later my heart ache eased alhumdulillah.. For the entire 6 weeks I didnt speak her or video call her.. She stayed with my parents and they kept saying she’s fine.. AlhamdulillahWhat REALLY helped was that my mum did a timeline of events so that mentally she knew what’s gonna happen next and where we were.. So from Madina she knew when we were going to Makkah, when we were in Mina etc.. So on the timeline was also.. Eid day nana is gonna cut the sheep then such and such… From the day we were accredited we told her that abbi and I are going for Hajj bcoz Allah invited us and no children allowed etcBe honest and open with ur kids – explain to them who they will be staying with and what will happen during that time.. So nana was gonna take her to the beach and nani was gonna take her to the park and she’s gonna see her cousins and nani was gonna bath her and make her sleep etcMany people couldn’t believe that I didn’t speak to her for so long but it was better for both of us.. I didn’t want her to kno that she can call to speak to us coz she may have wanted to speak to us while we were unreachable.ease and aafiyah to those leaving their bundles of joy behind 💕 Aameen – Ask any mum who has left their child behind if they would do it again and they will say YES! 😉 Discussion on @journeytohajj Instagram
8 Times when Duas are accepted
1) When rain falls, as it said in the hadeeth of Sahl ibn Sa’d that is attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “There are two which will not be rejected: du’aa’ at the time of the call (to prayer) and when it is raining.” Narrated by Abu Dawood 2)Between the adhaan and the iqaamah. It is narrated in a saheeh report that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A du’aa’ offered between the adhaan and iqaamah is not rejected.” Narrated by Abu Dawood (521) and al-Tirmidhi (212). 3) When drinking Zamzam water. It was narrated from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Zamzam water is for that for which it is drunk.” Narrated by Ahmad 4&5) It was narrated in a saheeh report that our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are three prayers that are not rejected: the prayer of a father for his child, the prayer of the fasting person and the prayer of the traveller.” Narrated by al-Bayhaqi 6) At a certain time of the night, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “During the night there is a time when the Muslim does not ask for the good of this world and the Hereafter but it will be given to him, and that happens every night.” Narrated by Muslim, 757. 7)A certain time on Friday. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) mentioned Friday and said: “During it there is a time when a Muslim slave does not stand and pray and ask Allaah for something, but He will give it to him,” and he gestured with his hand to indicate how short that time is. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 935; Muslim, 852. (most probably between asr and magrib) 8)The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The closest that a person is to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so say a great deal of du’aa’ then.” Narrated by Muslim, 482 Discussion on @journeytohajj Instagram
